4 Days Nyiragongo and Gorilla Trekking in Congo; This 4 Days Nyiragongo and Gorilla Trekking in Congo is a magical journey into the isolated jungles of one of the oldest National parks in Africa the Virunga National Park where you should expect an experience like no other. On this tour you will trek mountain gorillas in Virunga National park and then hike the Nyiragongo Volcano in Congo one of the most active volcanoes in the world standing over 11000 meters above sea level.

Tour Itinerary

DAY 01: Kigali to Bukima in Congo

The driver will pick you very early in the morning from the hotel and he will brief you on the safari. The driver will transfer you from Kigali to Bukima in Congo and the journey takes 4 hours to arrive to Goma town where you will have lunch stop. He will continue driving after lunch to Bukima where you will spend overnight. Dinner and overnight. Main Destination: Virunga National Park-Congo Accommodation: Mikeno lodge or Bukima Tented camp. Meals: Lunch & Dinner Drinks: Drinking Water

DAY 02: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park-Congo

After your early morning breakfast, your guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters for briefing and joining others for briefing before heading into the Virunga forest for your gorilla trek. This trek can last for between 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of mountain gorilla family you are allocated for trekking on that particular day. Once you find the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them while observing their behavior, taking photographs and then after the one hour encounter with the gorillas you return to the Park Headquarters to end the trek. You will then transfer to Goma after the gorilla trek for overnight. Accommodation: Overnight at Goma. Meals: Lunch & Dinner Drinks: Drinking Water

DAY 03: Hiking Nyiragongo Volcano Summit.

After the early morning breakfast, take a short drive from Goma to Kabati which is the starting point for Nyiragongo climbing with Virunga National Park. You will have a briefing with the park rangers and after start hiking the Nyiragiongo volcano and go through the impressive rain forest and continue on the lava eruption fissure and reach the summit. Have the whole of the evening enjoying the view from the crate and as you watch the lava inside. Dinner and overnight at the crater summit.

DAY 04: Descend the Nyiragongo Volcano and Departure to Kigali

Have breakfast and after descend down from Nyiragongo volcano mountain, you will meet the driver and return to Goma and if time allows , you will have a city tour of Goma visiting Goma caves and then proceed You will be driven back to Kigali for your post-tour accommodation or you may choose to fly out of Kigali on the last day of your tour. Since you will use the same route back, you will have another stop at the Rwanda-Congo border crossing for photo moments, buying souvenirs or to just relax before continuing to Kigali.
